I’ve never known a writer who didn’t feel ill at ease in the world. … We all feel unhoused in some sense. That’s part of why we write. We feel we don’t fit in, that this world is not our world, that though we may move in it, we’re not of it. … You don’t need to write a novel if you feel at home in the world.

“On March 29th at about 8:30 in the morning, a member of our Of Mice & Men family passed away from Cancer. Her name was Katelyn Norman.

One of her last things on her bucket list was to meet the band Of Mice & Men, and to come see the show, and unfortunately she couldn’t make it out to one. So the band got a box of stuff together for her; t-shirts, photos, laminates, wristbands, we even wrote her a letter. And today she passed away. I got this tattoo of her name on my knee sort of in remembrance of her, to kind of show her family and especially her mom just how much she inspired me. I’ve been talking via text and on the phone with her mom for a couple of days leading up to that day, and I just wanted her mom to know what a blessing her daughter was to my life and how much she means to the band. And kind of as a representation of what the entire fanbase of Of Mice & Men means to me and means to the rest of the band.

Katelyn, you’ll never be forgotten. I love you”
